How to bring local communities together and raise funds for education
the situation
K-8 public schools constantly struggle with budget shortfalls. Local PTA’s attempt to fill the gaps by soliciting parent donations to purchase classroom materials and to fund extracurricular activities like art, music, and foreign language classes.
Educators and administrators agree that close-knit parent communities are vital for supporting students on their journey through education.
Parents are busy and have a hard time establishing strong relationships within their school community, let alone finding time to stick with an exercise regimen.
Develop a school-based program to bring parent communities together through regular exercise while
fundraising for education.

the solution
Black Brew Bridge created an initiative called “Shaped” by:
-
Bringing school parent communities together to exercise 2 -3 times a week in a quick and effective 35 minute group class format.
-
Donating 50% of Shaped proceeds to the school’s PTA.
-
Designing support mechanisms like peer encouragement and accountability to help parent participants stick with the program.
-
Scaling the workout and fundraising programming to schools across the country. Shaped supplies a toolkit and app that gives local Shaped leaders everything they need to be successful: workout plans, marketing materials, online support, etc.
Black Brew Bridge’s proficiency in community building and quickly scaling new ventures has set Shaped up for success:
For the 2019 - 2020 school year, Shaped was the #1 fundraiser at its flagship school and it continues to grow in 2021.
Shaped brought parents together who would have never spoken to each other before. Now, they have a common purpose. They are becoming close friends, sweating it out in exercise classes, and supporting each other to stay fit.
Using a live, online format during the pandemic, parents from five schools now participate in Shaped exercise classes, raising money for their local schools.
In 2021, Shaped will launch an app for iOS and Android devices to supply Shaped leaders across the country with all the tools they need to start a Shaped exercise and fundraising group in their local communities.
